GUIDELINES FOR THE LECTURE SERIES PROGRAM

The purpose of these implementing guidelines aims to ensure quality and effective implementation of the Lecture Series as Continuing Professional Development Program organized by PACRE and LCC-B Graduate School.

SESSIONS

  1. The lecture series have a total of 6 sessions (classes), including the Culminating Activity which are held every Saturday at LCC-Bacolod.
  1. Each session explores a particular topic and is facilitated by an assigned professor of the day.
  1. All participants are required to attend the Culminating Activity.

CREDITS

  1. All participants who have completed the required number of attendance of the lectures will receive Certificates of Completion and be given 3 credit units in the event they decide to enroll in the Master of Arts in Education, major in Religious Studies Program of LCC-B Graduate School.
  1. Participants who attended less than 4 sessions will only receive Certificate of Participation for the respective topics they have attended. The said certificate will not be given 3-unit credits in case a participant will enroll in the Masteral program.
  1. Certificates of Completion/Participation and Grade will be given upon the completion of the requirements and payment of the registration fee.

ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES

  1. Attendance will be checked every session by the Corporate Secretary or his/her representative.
  1. Participants may be allowed to have 2 absences only due to any of the following acceptable reasons: participation in important school matters, sickness and accident, urgent family concerns, or natural disasters.
  1. The concerned student shall write a formal letter addressed to Dr. Dennis Madrigal explaining the said absence (duly noted by the principal, academic head if school matters) with attached pertinent documents as proofs for record purposes.
  1. No attendance shall be credited for participating in a half-day session only.

GRADING SYSTEM

  1. At the end of the lecture series, all participants will be given a grade based on the following computation: Attendance (30%), Research Paper/Synthesis Paper/Examination (50%), and participation in the Culminating Workshop-Activity (20%).
  1. All participants must accomplish the examination during the culminating workshop. For research papers and other outputs, the submission date will be arranged.
  1. For participants enrolling or planning to enroll in the Master’s Program, they must get the passing grade of 85; otherwise they will re-take the course/subject.

LECTURE FEE

  1. A non-refundable registration fee of One Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Pesos (Php1,750.00) will be charged for PACRE members and Two Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Pesos (Php2,250.00) for non-PACRE members. This fee includes the certificate of attendance and culminating activity fee. This does not include snacks and meals.
  1. For those who wish to attend in one or two particular sessions, they will only be charged of Php500.00 per session.
  1. A downpayment of Php500.00 (PACRE Members) or Php1,000.00 (Non-PACRE Members) shall be paid on the first day of session.

9th Lecture Series on Sacred Scriptures

A Lecture Series on SACRED SCRIPTURES is organized by La Consolacion College—Bacolod (LCC-B) and the Philippine Association of Catholic Religious Educators (PACRE) this July-August 2017. As part of PACRE’s continuing professional education program for religion and values education teachers, catechists, and campus ministers, the lecture aims to help participants understand the nature, purpose, and books of the Bible; be familiar with various tools to interpret correctly the Bible; and learn methods/approaches to study the Bible.

The lecture will feature the following topics:

July 8,  2017 – Bible 101: Meaning, Divisions, Chapters and Verses, Canon of Scriptures, Biblical Inspiration, Importance of Bible in Daily Life, Difference between Catholic and Protestant Bibles. Speaker: Mr. Jovito Moral, MA Theology

July 15, 2017 – Interpretation of Scriptures: Literal Interpretation, Spiritual/Pneumatic Exegesis, Christian Imagination, and Performance Hermeneutics. Speaker: Dr. Ronnie Galzote

July 22, 2017 – The New Testament: The Formation of the Gospels, the Epistles, Acts of the Apostles and Book of Revelation.  Speaker: Dr. Ronnie Galzote

July 29, 2017 – The Old Testament: Pentateuch, Historical Books, Prophetic Books, Psalms, and Wisdom Books. Speaker: Rev. Fr. Deogracias V. Camon, PhD

August 5, 2017 – Basic Bible Study Methods. Speaker: Grace Daguob

August 12, 2017 – Culminating Activity and Workshop on HouseWORD. Facilitator: Dr. Dennis Madrigal

The venue will be at La Consolacion College. Classes will be held every Saturday starting from July 8 until August 12, 2017. A registration fee of One Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Pesos (P1,750.00) is charged for PACRE members and Two Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Pesos (P2,250.00) for non-PACRE members for all sessions.  This fee includes the certificate of attendance and culminating activity fee.  This does not include snacks and meals.  We would like to encourage our participants, therefore, to bring their snacks and lunch.

Furthermore, like the previous lectures, complete attendance to these 6-day lectures will be given 3 credit units in the event the participant decides to enroll in our Master of Arts in Education, major in Religious Studies.
