The Philippine Association of Catholic Religious Educators (PACRE) is a SEC-registered national professional organization of religion teachers based in Bacolod City. The official seat of PACRE is located at the Department of Religious Education, University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos, Bacolod City.

Vision and Mission

Organized and established by interested religion teachers and members of the laity, PACRE envisions itself as a dynamic force for the New Evangelization primarily in the Negros Island Region and hopefully in the country.

PACRE commits itself to:

  • FOSTER cordial and professional relationship between and among religion teachers for fellowship and sharing of resources and professional expertise; and
  • PROVIDE opportunities for the professional and spiritual needs of Catholic religion teachers, catechists, and campus ministers;
  • ASSIST religion teachers to acquire training, certificate or degree in Religious Studies/Education or any related fields through consortium with Catholic higher educational institutions;
  • COLLABORATE with the Diocese for the work of evangelization.

History

 12 September 2015 – After the culmination program of the 1st Lecture Series on “Sacred Scriptures Alive in the Classroom”, the participants unanimously decided to organize an association which will unify and assist them in their professional and spiritual needs. Facilitated by Fr. Hubert Javellana, Dr. Ma. Mercedes Joson, and Fr. Deogracias Aurelio V. Camon, PhD the Ad Hoc Committee was created and mandated to prepare the proposed Constitution and Bylaws for ratification and for the official launching of the association. Dr. Dennis Madrigal chaired the committee.

21 December 2015 –  1st Launching of PACRE and it Constitution and Bylaws were ratified by its members on December 21, 2015 at the St. John Mary Vianney Hall, San Sebastian Cathedral Rectory with its officers inducted into office by Most Rev. Vicente M. Navarra, D.D. Bishop of Bacolod.

9 January 2016 – 1st Regular Board Meeting held at UNO-R Planning and Quality Assurance Office. The meeting started at 9:35 A.M. and adjourned at 11:30 A.M. The first Regular Board Meeting at UNO-R was attended by nine (9) newly-elected officers. The LEADERSHIP THRUST for 2016-2018 was the main agenda of the discussion.

6 February 2016 – 2nd Lecture Series on Liturgy and Sacraments started with 30 participants. The lecturers were: Fr. Deogracias Aurelio V. Camon, PhD, Dr. Dennis V. Madrigal, Dr. Ronnie Lizada, Dr. Ronnie Galzote, and Ms. Inocencia Cabarles. The Lecture Series culminated on March 12, 2016 at Servant’s Room of San Sebastian Cathedral Rectory. Fr. Camon offered a thanksgiving Mass; VP Amahit facilitated the workshop; agape followed at 12:00 NN.

16 February 2016 – The SEC Registration Certificate, Articles of Incorporation, and the Constitution and Bylaws were approved and released on this day by SEC Office in Iloilo City.

9 March 2016 – The PACRE Executive Board paid a Courtesy Call to the UNO-R President, Rev. Fr. Eduardo Celiz Jr., OAR and inked a MOA making UNO-Recoletos as the official seat of the Association.

18 April 2016 – The third Lecture Series on Mariology was attended by 29 participants. As part of its culminating activity on the 23rd of April, Fr. Deogracias Camon, PhD offered a thanksgiving Mass at 9:00 A.M. which was followed by a workshop activity and agape. The lecturers were Fr. Deogracias Aurelio V. Camon, PhD, Dr. Rey Entila, Dr. Ronnie Galzote, and Dr. Dennis Madrigal.

 13 May 2016 – The 1st PACRE Annual Conference was held at Saint John Mary Vianney Hall of the San Sebastian Cathedral Rectory. Rev. Fr. Thadeu Enrique Balongag discussed the theme, “The Role of Catholic Education in the New Evangelization.” More than sixty (60) participants coming from private and parochial Catholic schools attended the conference.

21 December 2016 – The Philippine Association of Catholic Religious Educators (PACRE), Inc. held its 1ST RESEARCH CONFERENCE on this day at Ricardo1-3 of L’Fisher Hotel, Bacolod City. For this year, the theme of the conference will focus on “Communion and Mission.” This activity hopes to build and strengthen the research competence of religion teachers as they engage in the teaching ministry. To help us accomplish our objective, the Association invited Dr. Enrique Oracion, Dean of the Graduate School of Silliman University as resource speaker who discussed perspectives in Qualitative Research and Writing a Publishable Paper. The research presentation in the afternoon capped the whole day activity which was attended by more than 60 participants coming from different Catholic schools in Negros Island Region.
